He's a dancer not a number he's got a name. He's here to dance, to entertain Now you tell him in the street, go home and take your dancing feet we're dancing to another beat and won't need you again His grandad flew a Spitfire in the war Helped to keep the Nazis from the English shore First they called him hero and then showed him the door We've beaten our old enemy we don't need you any more Your fathers and grandfathers won that war Can you remember what they were fighting for? And now it's all unravelling you've heard the weasel lies Who's your enemy? I think they're in disguise

I hear we going to war with Spain It's 1585 again And while we're there we'd take the chance And cross the border into France We're having so much fun you see next on the list is Germany Hang on though Spain isn't small We need a place more suitable I've had a think and now's the time For declaring war on Lichtenstein Luxembourg we could attack We'll soon get our Empire back Here we go, here we go, here we go Andorra's next then Monaco And if that goes well and all is grand We'll march right into Switzerland Is this not what you voted for? Did you not want another war?

Jolly England (Hobbs/Langford © 2016) Don't get sick, you can't find a bed Don't get old, you'll wish that you were dead Don't be young and live your life in debt Don't protest cos they'll brand you as a red Jolly, jolly, jolly England and they're laughing all the way to the bank and the joke's on you Jolly, jolly, jolly England and they're laughing all the way to the bank and the joke's on you Don't do good, bloody liberals Don't be smart, better act the fool Don't get poor if you want to eat Don't read books, they'll be calling you elite Don't forget, don't be anything but white Don't go left when the country's going right Don't accept everything you read Don't expect to get anything you need

He thought he knew what he was doing well at least that's what he said put a metaphoric bullet in his best friend's head Drop the gun, avoid the bloodstain on the floor He said it's just a stupid piece of paper and nothing's gonna change Some thought it was their saviour but that just sounds deranged He said you'll thank me in the future that's what friends are for It's brother against brother, Mother against son Father against daughter and the damage has been done Sisters aren't together and friends no longer friends Will there be reconciliation, and where's it going to end? He said he'd done his research and there were reasons not to stay The country was full up now and the Queen wanted away Banning bent bananas, it's nonsense don't you know He blamed all the immigrants and said they're running scams We'd go back to using ounces instead of bloody grammes He saw it on the tele he said thats the way to go There's a bullet for your mother and one more for your dad One for all the friends you've got and those you never had A bullet for the union and another for the poor None left for the government but isn't that what this was for? He said project fear was rubbish, he'd read it in the Mail Remember we are British and Britain never fails He's incandescent about light bulbs and everything we've lost We won't be classifying cabbages or obeying foreign laws We can go back to the 50s to the way we were before It's all we've ever wanted just don't ask about the cost t's brother against brother, Mother against son Father against daughter and the damage has been done Sisters aren't together and friends no longer friends Will there be reconciliation, and where's it going to end?

This Empire's State © 2017 Langford/Marris He's angry when he wakes up and goes to bed the same  Doesn't want to understand, just wants someone to blame Doesn't like to think too much and believes just what he's told It's easier that way he's found to buy whatever's sold Sweat drips down his tattooed queen is crying Intimidation, he's not even even trying Learned to hate at his father's knee Only one way he was ever going to be He's heavy with the weight of expectation Of twisted hopes from previous generations Who thought that they were going to save our nation But from who? It's quite a trek to Tipperary and he doesn't know the way But just a short step to the Old Kent Road, that's where he wants to stay Let's all do the Lambeth Walk, it's what made our Empire great  Let's not look too closely at this Empire's state He's used by the rich to blame it on the poor He knows what he's against but what's he in it for? Learned to hate at his father's knee Only one way he was ever going to be

TOLD YOU SO ( © Parnall/Langford/Hobbs 2018) Told you so, you know I told you so You should've listened but oh no You had your vote, said that's enough Even though it's clear They cheated and they broke the law, won the day and shut the door And even then they didn't know where we go from here Now we're screwed and I mean you and me They're OK 'cos they've all gone you see Laughing at your gullibility Laughing at our stupid apathy It gets worse, another verse This goes on and on and on Fifty stinking years of hurt But at least we wrote a song You can hum it in the food bank line, Beat it on a drum, let's start I really wish I'd listened I wish I'd played my part There are no sunny uplands to be seen The unicorns are tasting of chlorine , All because you bought into a dream Of a slimy toff from Eton with a scheme If you could rent a Time machine You could have stockpiled more, Bought a gun and padlocks for the door Or you could have spent some dosh and bought your self a boat but why mess around with that, let's have a peoples vote.

The band were playing ukuleles And the only thing to drink was Bailey's The crowd were in an angry mood They were promised music, beer and food They promised there would be a gig They said it would be really big Bigger than we'd seen before Don't expect a big encore Promises, promises  so easy to make Promises, promises easier to break Promises, promises, surely not lies Promises, promises oh what a surprise But this band can't write a song Creating things just takes too long Screeching feedback then a fight Scuffling for the spotlight They said that it would be a hit show But really it was just a shit show All they can play is silver spoon Just a rattle not a tune Too much noise to hear what they're saying Fighting over the mic when they should be playing Nothing's going, but no-one's staying They're not performing but you're paying When the cans and bottles fly Run and hide or stand and lie Nothing to do so please be seated Have you ever felt like you've been cheated

Fascist in my Soup (© 2019 Langford, de Ferrars, Marris) Waiter there's a fascist in my soup I didn't order one can you tell me what to do Once I thought I had a choice But now it seems I have no voice Waiter there's a fascist in my soup Waiter there's a racist on my plate I tried to scrape it off but I think that's it too late Why can't we educate Stopping people feeling hate Waiter there's a racist on my plate And if a million people have to tick box X or Y They’ll just recall the last soundbite, whether honest or a lie. And when they see the hurt unleashed, the damage done for pride The genie’s out the bottle and it won’t go back inside. Waiter there's a nasty smell in here Smells of hypocrisy, cigarettes and beer A man who's rotten to the core He has it all but wants some more Waiter there's a nasty smell in here Waiter I think I’ve had my fill I can't stomach this it's making me feel ill They stir us up, we fail the test Eat the good stuff, feed us the rest Waiter I think I’ve had my fill

about

A set of songs about the decision of the UK to leave the EU. A deeply flawed and potentially disastrous move in my opinion.
